Description
DIETH already caused an uproar in the metal scene in 2022 when the newly formed band released their debut single “In The Hall of the Hanging Serpents” in the middle of the year. After the individual musicians had been quiet for a while, they bundled up with the Grammy Award Award-winning bassist David Ellefson (ex-Megadeth), drummer Michał Łysejko (ex-Decapitated) and Swedish Grammy-nominated guitarist/vocalist Guilherme Miranda (ex-Entombed AD) join forces in a death thrash alliance that packs a punch and delighted fans and media alike with this surprise.
On June 2nd, 2023, the long-awaited debut album To Hell And Back will finally be released via Napalm Records. To Hell And Back stands for a new beginning in all respects – lyrically, musically and of course not least personally, for the musicians themselves. Dieth produced and mixed and mastered them self-directed by Tomasz Zed Zalewski at the Zed Studios in Chechło, Poland Genre stereotypes left behind and are now setting new, very own accents. Relentless Death Metal with tech parts meets rapid Thrash attacks and incidentally presents Ellefson’s debut as lead singer on one of the ten tracks.
The album’s title track launches the listener into the universe of To Hell And Back with an acoustic intro, before a furious thunderstorm of death metal ensues, dominated by thunderous, guttural vocals. With furious drums, deep-grooving basses, innovative riffs and ingenious solos, the trio underlines their skills and this sonic battle cry of the most violent proportions. Tracks like “Dead Inside” and “Don’t Get Mad…Get Even!” ensnare DIETH’s thrashy side, while death metal anthems like “Wicked Disdain” and “The Mark of Cain” join in intense solos and breakneck rhythms. “Free Us All” plays with the tempo of the album, mixing quieter passages with thumping bass and psychedelic influences. “Heavy Is The Crown” On the other hand, he moves more slowly and carried by the stoner metal groove and catapults the listener into other spheres with his rocking chorus and blues-heavy solo. In the melancholic ballad “Walk With Me Forever” David Ellefson addresses the possibility of being able to draw strength from the loss of a loved one with his powerful singing debut as lead vocalist. The intense “Severance” rounds off To Hell And Back and proves once again that DIETH aren’t just a side project or just another supergroup, but rather the reincarnation of three renowned heavy metal forces. With this debut album, a whole new chapter begins for the artists that no metal fan should miss!” On the other hand, he moves more slowly and carried by the stoner metal groove and catapults the listener into other spheres with his rocking chorus and blues-heavy solo.
